CEC 30 Candidate Forum
Candidate Forums are organized by the district and borough Presidents’ Councils in collaboration with the Office of Family and Community Empowerment (FACE). I’ve made a short video of my responses during the Candidate Forum for you to watch here, but if you are interested in watching all of the participating candidates, you can view the video in its entirety here.
Budget Cuts Protest
During the summer of 2022, there were protests all over the city to get Mayor Adams to restore school funding that was cut. This short video depicts my efforts to speak out in relation to this matter.
Speaking out for Assistance with Asylum-Seeking Families
During the 2022-2023 term, District 30 served one of the city's largest populations of asylum-seeking families. As our district was tasked to assist these families and help them in our school communities, it was apparent that District 30 required additional support to succeed with this endeavor. While serving as President, I was able to speak with the Chancellor during a Bi-Monthly Meeting with CEC Presidents and alert him to the needs of District 30. Then with the support of my fellow council members, I called into the October PEP meeting to bring more attention to our district’s needs. This short video reflects the comments provided and the results of discussions held with various city stakeholders concerning obtaining the much-needed aid.
